Ok, ok, ok! I will be the first to admit I have been a lax blogger. Not the prime example for those needing one but I will get better. Promise. I just need to work the blog into my weekly communication cycle. In addition to everything else, am taking an online course (why not?) from which I am learning to teach courses completely online--which is quite a stretch for a self-proclaimed Vygotskian...But I am finding some interesting strategies for virtual communication and interactions that may rival the kinds of social learning that we engage in when we are face to face.
Furthermore, I am really learning from one professional learning community in particular called www.academia.edu where on my personal page http://csusm.academia.edu/LorriJSantamar%C3%ADa I can post all of my academic papers -even works in progress, see the academic papers written by others in my discipline, answer pertinent questions, see where in the world my work is being read and disseminated, and follow academics who are doing similar work; connecting my academic journey with countless others in the USA and around the world. So far I have connected with people I have met at conferences and otherwise would have lost track, discovered that folks in the UK and Canada are interested in leadership for diversity, and found a whole group of like-minded future focused educational leaders all over the world. I encourage you to join in the rich conversations on Academia.edu to complement your involvement in the American Educational Research Association (AERA), the subject of my next blog. Until then, press on and remain balanced: Body, mind, and spirit. Peace. Dr. S
